High Force is a beautiful sight with its 70 foot drop into a plunge pool making it England's highest uninterrupted waterfall. With its surrounding walks along the River Tees and its gift shop its a lovely visit.

Hamsterley Forest
Hamsterley Forest is one of the top attractions in the county attracting around 180,000 visitors a year. The Forests many walking trails and cycling routes are all accessible amongst the forests lush trees. As well as its Walking and cycling routes there are picnic sites, play areas and a cafe as well as its different car parks. Hamsterley Forest also features one of the best Downhill bike tracks in the UK.

This iconic railway line stretching through 18.7 miles of the Weardale scenery is a fantastic way to see the views. Different stations have different facilities with the Stanhope Station including a shop and a cafe. The Coach House and Gardens at Eggleston Hall are set in the grounds of the Georgian country house looking over the River Tees. Used as the location for Ladette to Lady the privately owned house has beautiful gardens in which you can view and purchase a variety of plants and flowers and from March Till Christmas the Cafe and tea shop and the Garden room gift shop are open.

Located on the outskirts of the village Staindrop, Raby Castle’s picturesque landscape and medieval castle are a fantastic visit. Built in the 14th Century the Castle has a rich history held within the walls for you to discover by guided tours of the halls and chambers. Also found within the vast land including the lakes are deer freely strolling. A visit to the Gardens, Tearoom and the gift shop can round off an enjoyable day out.

With its unique history and grounds Auckland Castle has a large variety of activities for visitors with its large grounds perfect for a walk with the Deer House, bridges and a fish pond offering a picturesque walk. Inside visitors can view the long dining room and exhibitions where you can view and learn about the rich history. And if you are in need of a rest the Cafes high quality food and drink will more then do.
